Clinton (49) a homeless veteran, displays his combat scars on the corner of H & 12 in the Atlas District. Clinton was a part of US Special Forces many years ago and was wounded in the leg and stomach while assaulting a barracks in Beirut during the Lebanese conflict in the early 1980′s. Since then, he has been divorced by his wife, lost his home, job and made his way out of alcoholism and drug addiction. When asked why he cannot get another job, he explains “The only work available is too strenuous for me. Manual labor stuff. I cant work with my back and knees like they are for extended periods of time.” When asked about his benefits as a veteran, he says “They pay for whatever surgeries i need from the hospital, but i get no other benefits. I’m still fighting for those” he continues “They love you when your in, and treat you like shit when your out”
